Voodoo Lab - Control Switcher weirdness

Hi Ron,

I'm using a Voodoo Lab Control Switcher to control my Korg SDD-2000 bypass switching.
I set the Control Switcher to momentary and when I change the status by pressing the IA-button for that everything works but if I save the status to a preset and then have another preset in opposite status a strange thing happens. The bypass button on the SDD-2000 locks in on, or off, position and it's impossible to change the status by changing presets.
If I go over to control the status with the IA button again I have to press two times on the SDD-2000 button to "unlock" the thing the presets does with this command.
I'm using firmware 3.4.4 now. Earlier firmware versions didn't generated this problem.

Can you take a look on my setup for the GT-16 I use and see if I have done something stupid?
You fint the IA button for the SDD-2000 under button 6 on the fist page, IA mode.

Best regards,
Lars Blomstrand

If it worked before 3.4.4, it's unlikely that your settings are the problem. Do you remember which version you were using before 3.4.4? If I can compare your settings with each version you used, it should be fairly easy to identify the problem.

I can't figure it out. I'd probably need an SDD-2000 and control switcher here, which I don't have.

Hi Ron,

This is a test I did earlier today.

My GT-16 is connected to a midi interface directly and then I monitored the midi stream with Midi-OX ( http://www.midiox.com )

Now, if you don't see this behavior with your device but with my setup file I sent you earlier then it must be some weird hardware fault on my device.

Oh, I forgot. You have to engage the button 6 at Page 1, preset 32, Song 4( IA mode )to have the similar condition as I generated....

Ah, I missed something - you have momentary turned on. Momentary buttons can't be programmed to automatically turn on or off during preset changes. Turn off the Momentary checkbox on the button settings in the GT. If the Control Switcher itself is set to momentary, you don't need the GT to be set to momentary as well.

The weirdness depends.....

I did as you told me. Strait logical, is'a the way to go.
After some jiggling with the Switch Controls settings I founded out that the right command to set the used switch in is "Only on MSG".
Set the switch to that. Tapped on the switch and: Success! The SDD-2000 change the bypass switch as it should.
Now, over to the GT-16, set for just toggle..... and.....? :-/ the SDD-2000 acting as if a toggle switch was controlling it.

?!!!!!!!

Back to the "Control Switcher" again. Pressing button 4 and the switch has change status and now it works as a toggle switch again.
I do a check if the programmed settings has change, but no.
Reprogram the switch and test the switch again on the "Contr. Switcher". Works like a charm.
Change the switch on the GT-16 again and.... Back to toggle.

"Voodoo Lab - Control Switcher weirdness" in a nut shell.

When you wrote this:

Which switch were you tapping?

The switch on the "Control Switcher". The "success state" disappeared after that I press the Button 6 on GT-16 and then the "Control Switcher" goes back to work as an toggle switch again even if the setting in the "Control Switcher" is set to "on Msgr only".

Before you press anything on the GT-16, does the Control Switcher button work correctly every time you press it? That is, does it turn the SDD-2000 on and off when you press the button repeatedly?

Yes, that's the weird thing. When I press the Control Switchers ( From now, just called "CS" ) button the SDD-2000 bypass function works. I toggle the "CS" button repeatedly and the SDD-2000 follow and just toggle the bypass on-off, on-off, on-off, on-off, on-off, on-off.... until i press the GT-16 button 6. Then the "CS" button starts to work as a toggle switch again, a.k.a. I have to press twice to have the SDD-2000 to change status from off to on.

This sounds like a Control Switcher issue. You may have to ask Voodoo Lab if incoming MIDI commands have any effect on the button settings.

Yes, I'm in contact with Voodoo Lab now.

This will not be an easy thing.
I made a total reset of the "CS" and guess what, it works now.... So someting messing up the "CS" sometimes, but I don't know what and I don't know when ( hard thing to log something like that ). Anyway, right now everything is back to normal.

Having similar issues with my CS (using it for channel switching on my Mesa Mark IV), where CC’s aren’t working, PC’s aren’t working, toggle/momentary/etc... isn’t working.

Are your issues with it resolved still? I’m about to post my same issue in a new thread, but wanted to check in on you first.

Thanks!

Old thread, but having the same issue with my GT16. Using mine alongside a HEX which is working flawlessly. HEX is set to MIDI channel 2, GCX1 and the Control Switcher is set to GCX2, midi channel 3. I tried sending PC messages to it and it wouldn't even flash to save PC messages. Tried multiple times to restore, nothing. All other devices are working fine, all going thru a Kenton thru 5. Probably something up with the unit. Any leads?? I should note I am a MIDI n00b lol but any help would be appreciated so so much. Will be in contact with Voodoo Lab tomorrow. Thanks everyone!!

It's always a good first step to just connect the Control Switcher directly to the GT and try it that way, in case one of the devices in between is causing trouble.
