I disagree. One thing you have to understand about MIDI Thru is that the MIDI signal degrades a bit with every MIDI Thru you use, even more so if the MIDI Thru is not a true hardware MIDI Thru like the ones you see on the Axe-FX III.
The general rig build wisdom is to limit the MIDI Thru's to...
Just had a look at the diagram. The better idea in my opinion is to use a MIDI splitter after the MIDI Thru of the Axe-FX III. This way you don't have to overcomplicate the setup with bi-directional MIDI Out via the Remote In, and everything in the rig receives their own MIDI signal.
For this...
Good to know. Yeah, I know a lot of people talk about having backup guitars and maybe backup cables for live shows, but rarely do people ever talk about having a backup modeller or such similar just in case their main rig goes down, so this is something I've wanted to discuss. Thanks for your...
So option 1 route it is then. I guess it comes down to whichever is better for my needs - Boss GT-1000Core, or Line 6 HX Stomp.
Others have also suggested the ToneX, but sadly it doesn't have a drive block so...
Hi folks,
Hope you guys are doing well. The bidirectional MIDI cable from Best-Tronics arrived and happy to say, it's working out perfectly for my RJM Mastermind GT-16 and Axe-FX III.
Having said that, I now need suggestions on how to go about my rack shelf. This year, I am hoping to save up...
UPDATE 2: It seems I just may have finally found a solution.
Fractal Audio released firmware 27.03 for the Axe-FX III, which improves the drive block AND solves some of the issues I've been having with the pitch block, especially the virtual capo. Downpitching on the virtual capo is FINALLY...
UPDATE: So I've given this quite a consideration over the past few days. Man, is it not easy to implement bidirectional MIDI for my Axe-FX III rack rig while being able to retain the ability to utilize outboard gear in a small rack enclosure with limited space...
I've had a chance to think...
Although it most likely will be the last one on earth, and won't be easily replaceable if it breaks down...I'll give it a thought, thank you for the offer though!
Good to know. I'll give it a thought. I'd probably be more inclined towards going the phantom power route as it'll streamline setup and teardown for me in the long run, but we'll see how things go.
Regarding the alternatives...
1. I've tested mounting the QuadraThru at the top of the rack. Unfortunately, during transport it tends to be unstable. Even the adhesives on the 3M dual lock tend to easily fall off with a simple whack. (Imagine how much more unstable it will be with velcro.) Maybe...
Hi all,
Still been trying to implement bidirectional MIDI in my Axe-FX III rig and need everyone's second opinion on this. I've been sleeping on this for several days and yet I still have been struggling to settle on a solution.
So in my previous thread in the Utility Boxes section, I asked...
Just had a quick look into the MultiBox. Oh gawd, the DC power jack is on the top side of the MultiBox, not on the side...that's gonna be impossible to implement into my rack shelf without offloading the Digitech Drop or Boss OC-5 octaver on my rack shelf...
It's looking more and more likely...
Hi all,
I've been in the market for a phantom power box for the RJM Mastermind GT-16 to faciliate bi-directional MIDI for my Axe-FX III rack rig, but I couldn't find any 7-pin phantom power boxes in the RJM shop - I'm only seeing 6-pin XLR phantom power boxes. Are the 7-pin phantom power boxes...
Gotcha. So true MIDI Thru's can be daisy chained (up to 3-4 depending on whether or not any of them require real-time expression pedal inputs), but soft MIDI Thru's are a higher risk factor. That's good to know.
One thing to note about the Strymon BigSky (as well as all other Strymon...
This has been a debate among guitarists and rig builders for quite some time - should one always have preference to a MIDI splitter box such as a MIDI Solutions QuadraThru, or are there cases where one can daisy chain MIDI via MIDI Out/Thru ports of the MIDI devices?
Reason why I'm asking: I'm...
Hello all,
So far I've seen so many guides on how to set up the RJM Mastermind GT and Fractal Axe-FX III with bidirectional MIDI; however, what I found that the guides don't tell you are how to set up the MIDI controller if you're planning to use outboard MIDI gear, AND retain the ability to...
