Kemper Player preset please

I recently rediscovered my Kemper toaster and was delighted to find your preset for my Mastermind GT16 that gave me an amazing setup in a few minutes of time. It is so nice to use with the bidirectional MIDI. It would have taken me forever to figure that out on my own. The only change I wanted was to put the delay on a different button.

now I have a Kemper Player on the way. It seems clear now that it’s USB A pot can act as a MIDI host and the MIDI channel issue is also sorted out. It would be amazing if my GT16 could create a default set up for the Player with the same ease as the toaster.

Doesn't the Profiler setting also work for the Player? I was under the impression that they use the same CCs.

I can‘t try yet, since my player will only arrive next week. But I will definitely give it a try and report back. It would be awesome if it did!

Ok, just wanted to check back in with good news: the toaster preset works perfectly with the player.
it does all the patch changes, volume pedal, Wah pedal, tap tempo, songlist etc. everything works using a standard USB to MIDI cable.

one exception that I miss but that is probably on the Kemper side:
- stomp names are not being back transferred to the RJM
- stomp status is not back transferred to to the RJM. This is a pitty since the player itself only shows the status of the delay and Stomp A.

if Kemper let‘s us have bidirectional MIDI via USB, then it would be perfect. But it already is a very good start I would say.

Correction - it was my specific cable (Swisscom). With a M-Audio USB A to MIDI bidirectional communication with the player works perfectly and i have the same functionality as with the toaster. How cool is that?!

That's great to hear! Thanks for sharing the solution!

Hello all,
I am back on the Mastermind wagon, after almost 8 years or so. I remember my last rig with a Mastermind was replaced when I went the Kemper route. That said, with the Player being out now I wanted to build a rig where the Player is being unlocked and maximized by using a Mastermind GT/16.

So I received the GT16 today and connected to the Player. So far I have encounter two roadblocks.
1. I can't seem to get the stop/effect status or state back to the MMGT. I am connected via USB. Perhaps I should try with the MIDI to USB with my 15+y/o M-Audio UNO.
2. I have been trying to update the MMGT's firmware and it just won't do it. I even tried manually with a USB stick and it says I need a valid firmware.

I am attaching my config file.

@Frank67 If I understand correctly, you were able to see the stomp status back on your MMGT. would you mind sharing your settings.

A direct USB connection isn't going to work. Your Uno might, but I don't know that for certain.

If the GT is reporting that you don't have valid firmware, make sure that the flash drive is formatted properly (you can do that in the System Menu), and also make sure that you're trying to install Mastermind GT firmware (MMGT531.rjf) and not Mastermind firmware (MM531.rjf)

I finally was able to update the firmware using one of these: 1742362882369.png
I have had a few of them for 20+ years lol

So a direct USB connection won't do the stomp state/status? Is that a limitation of the Kemper?

No, it's a Mastermind limitation. It can't connect directly to another MIDI device. It can only connect to a MIDI host (like a computer)
