MIDI

Hey,
I would love to see more midi features. It looks like (please correct me if I'm wrong here) your devices are recongnizing midi cc# but not currently retransmitting the current cc on/off status at the time of preset recall (unit handshaking). This detail limits the number of available midi footswitches to only the highest dollar ones on the market like the Rocktron All Access. Other midi footswitches that are programable like the All Access are already marketing their products with their own audio loop switching rack units. And the whole shabang costs less than the All Access. I love my new RG-16, but I need my midi footcontroler to reflect the active, current loops after a new preset is recalled.
Rember it's all about the stage show and minimizing the 'pedal dance'? Well having no cc# data retransmitted to the midi footswitch means I have to toggle a pedal twice to turn a loop off, or turn and look at the rack if I'm not hearing something I want to put in the chain and then kick it on.
Sorry for all my whining but I'm looking down the barrel of an All Access purchase that as a married guy, not looking forward to explaining the expense to my family:)
Just 'keeping it real', as they say. Chances are Its possible to do and I'm all wrong. Again I hope I am just overlooking something and I'm just not setting it up right.

You're talking about using IA mode, right? If you program the loops on the Mastermind instead of the RG-16, then the two will be more consistent (pressing the buttons on the RG-16 will not update the Mastermind, but preset recall will work correctly). Making sure you have firmware version 1.3 on the Mastermind will help a lot - you can switch to IA mode, turn on loops using the Mastermind, then hold down the Function button on the Mastermind to store.

MIDI is not designed for bidirectional communication, so getting it to work the way we would really want is not an easy task and requires going well outside the MIDI standard. The Mastermind remote mode does this, but I have not yet developed a more general solution to encompass our other products. If/when we have a larger controller I'll try to tackle the problem.

Thanks for the quick response. I owe you an apology.. Did not know the mastermind was able to store preset cc data. Looks like problem solved.
Thanks again!!

It wasn't as obvious or as easily accessible before version 1.3 - before that, you had to go into setup mode to change CCs, which was a pain. :(

with the rocktron AA you have to program your CC status into the AA and not at the RG-16 anymore. the AA does not reflect the CC status of the RG-16...the only unit the AA is working in remote-mode is with rocktron units like the vodoovalve and the prophecy.
i´m using the AA in combination with the RG-16 and it works great, but to get all the control options out of the AA, you have to chance the way you store patches.
now i´m using a midichannel per unit, channel one for the RG-16, two for the g-major, 3 for the harmonizer....
i program all the on/off status with directly in the AA, as well as midi-mapping - not doing it at the g-major anymore. to program your setup from the midi-controller gives you more flexibility and you see the status by calling up a program on the controller, but the controller does not reflect the status of any midi-unit in the rack.
