Neutrik PowerCon as an on/off switch

I have just built a 1U panel for my rack which essentially just has the Axe-FX3 loaded in a 4U case. Inside the case I have my RJM XLR6 midi box and I want to wire this up with my Axe-FX3 to a Neutrik PowerCon socket which will go into the 1U panel.

So the Axe-FX3 is easy, it has a power switch already which means I can insert the Neutrick PowerCon cable and then power on the Axe-FX afterwards - and vice versa. However, the GT22 will power up as soon as I turn the PowerCon plug into locking position. Is this a safe way to be powering on the GT22 and powering it off?

This is the Neutrik PowerCon (I'm sure you guys know it well):

That should be ok, it wouldn't be any different than plugging the power cord into the GT itself.
