RJM appreciation post

I was listening to the Chairmen Of The Boards podcast, really enjoyed it.

Just wanted to share how much of my creative ideas I have been able to execute because of the amazing flexibility of the RJM products. In my band we refuse to play with tracks, but we have complex arrangements sometimes so over the years I’ve had to implement quite a few tricks to get the songs to where we want them live.

I use a GT16 to control my Axe FX III for bass guitar
Change patches on my Moog Sub 37 and it’s HX stomp
Change patches on my Korg Modwave and it’s HX stomp
Trigger samples on a Roland SP404SX which is located in the rack
Control an H9 in the rack
Switch presets for my drummers Roland TM-6

The latest: for one song I need to play both the Moog and Modwave at the same time, using only the Moog keyboard. There isn’t a midi cc to control the setting for the midi notes to be sent out of the midi output of the Moog. How I got this to work without having to menu dive during a show: I hooked up the moog to the desktop editor, which is midi based. I changed the keyboard out setting and with midi monitor I intercepted the sysex message used to do so. I then made a button on the GT to send said sysex message and voilà: I can control whether or not I want the Moog’s midi notes to be sent to the modwave.

It’s just insane what we can do with this amazing tech. Thanks so much.
