Second press IA actions

Hi folks,
I am trying to set up IA actions for the second press on preset.

On the global tab, I have preset second press to "IA"

So my question is how do I set up the IA action that I want to happen on the second press (and not when I first select the preset)?

For example, on preset one, I want the second press to turn on the infinite mode on the Big Sky (cc17 or 18, BTW not sure what the difference is) and presumably turn it off on a third press.

So then when I'm in that preset, in the preset actions, how do I set that up? If do a cc action that happens immediately as soon as the preset is selected. That's not what I want.

For the second press
1. Does it need to be a system command (set IA)? IA number- how do I set that up?
2. Or a Macro-but then hope do I make it such that it is an IA command?

I'm confused. Help please.

Chuck

Good question! I haven't used the Preset 2nd parameter configured for IA, but I assume you would uncheck "Send on Preset Change" in the IA Settings section of the Button editing window. That should result in preset's not acting on or sending the IA Actions you've added, but when you press the Preset button a second time, the IA Actions get triggered.

Let me know if you get a chance to try it out before I do, and if it works as I described.

So shouldn’t the Ia action be in the preset not assigned to the button otherwise the same action would be in preset 1,6,11, etc in the pbc10?
This sounds like it would be a button second press not preset second press?

Hey Chuck, great question. When the 2nd Press option is set to IA, it is a button second press not a preset second press.

Preset Button 2nd Press: Determines what happens when you press the currently selected preset button a second time. Possible values are:

IA - runs the IA actions that are specified on this button
Same - does nothing special - just selects the same preset again
Previous - selects the previously selected preset
Global - selects the Global Preset
Reload - reloads the current preset, resetting all IA buttons and PC messages to the state that is stored in the preset
Alternate - recalls this preset's Alternate Preset

So it sounds like a better way to do this is use alternate and make a variant of the preset with the modifications I want instead of IA.
