Strange behavior of Gizmo

I have a Volante in a stereo loop (it can be any of the 4 stereo loops). When I play through it I get a signal back that is one-sided mono. If I uplug and replug the insert cable on the back of the Gizmo, stereo sound is restored. If I then turn off that loop on the front panel, then turn it back on, I'm back to a one-sided mono signal. This is reproducible (though figuring this out drove me crazy; I thought is was the Volante--but disproved this by playing through it directly; then I thought it must be a bad cable. But it's not.). I'm using a 9V AC 0.5 amp power supply--same one I've used all along.

Any thoughts?
