Wait to send PC +/- until arriving at intended PC number

Per my post asking if this was possible a couple days ago, it would be awesome if there was a way to wait to send a PC message when using PC +/- until I get to the PC number I am looking for.

For example if I wanted to get to PC 5 on my H9 and I was on PC 1, I could press a PC + button 4 times, and the PBC would only send the PC 5 message once I stop scrolling at PC5, as opposed to sending PCs 2, 3, and 4 to the H9 along the way.

For me this would solve many problems I experience in a live setting (reverb trails cutting off when scrolling through presets on my Source Audio Ventris, hearing my H9 cycle through various different sounds and be abruptly cut off, etc.) and would overall help create seamless transitions during the times when I'm using my PBC as more of an Aux switch/looper.

Just curious; in this situation, how does your RJM device know which PC you’re intending to land on? How does it know when you want it to actually send the PC?

Couldn’t this problem be better solved by a Page of button-grouped buttons that send single PC messages to your H9/Ventris?

@ZachSelindh In my mind, the PBC would wait a few milliseconds and if no more PC +/- are received on the PBC, then it would send just the one PC message I have landed on and not all of the others in between. This, I imagine, would be a setting in the editor where I could set how many milliseconds to wait to send Pc. Since the PBC conveniently shows PC numbers on the screen when using the PC +/- buttons, this is how it would know what PC I’m intending to land on.

I do have separate button pages for my devices which are great for programming/preset building purposes. To reiterate from my original post, what I’m requesting has to do with using my PBC live when I’m not using pre-programmed presets and doing things more in the moment.

For this I have a “home” page where I can kick on/off drives, scroll my H9, scroll my Ventris, etc. This is all on one page and I’d prefer to keep it that way. I don’t want to have to navigate through various pages in this sort of setting.

I totally get this; I set up my "Home" page/Page 1 so that holding down each of the buttons takes me to a control page for one of my MIDI devices, which helps with that in-the-moment flexibility. That way, I'm only one button press (hold) away from real time control of any device.

I get your perspective on the PBC waiting a couple ms between PC scroll changes to actually send the message... but some users will still want the changes to be immediate for their purposes, which means the only way to implement what you're asking is through some substantive changes to the firmware and Editor, presumably to add a "Preset Scroll Wait Time" variable, which you've alluded to.

In the meantime, there's probably a compromise to find between the flexibility you're seeking and the current functions of the PBC, I'd be happy to share my settings if that would help you!

@zatch_attach thanks for your response and willingness to help! Yeah, I think what I'm looking to do would definitely need to be in a future firmware/editor update so that's why I went ahead and posted it here in the Wish List section, so fingers crossed on that. Apparently it's a more uncommon request than I would have thought, but in my mind I could see a dropdown to the submenu once the PC + or - button type is selected to then choose how many ms for it – like in many other areas of the editor. Although I have no idea how much work that would actually be to implement on the dev side of things.

But for now, I switched to the button group page method like yourself. It works well enough, but I can't say I love how many buttons it eats up doing it this way, and also requires switching back and forth from various pages way more often than I'd like.
