Axe Fx 3 tap tempo question

I have one of my IAs set up as a tap tempo button with 'Flash with tempo' checked. Everything works as expected except the LED doesn't flash the tempo until after I tap one in. Is it possible to get it to flash the preset tempo without tapping a new tempo in?

I'm on the latest firmware, I have the Axe Fx setup as described in the manual and I selected Axe Fx 3 as my device on the LT. I'm using two 5-pin MIDI cables from the Axe Fx to the LT. Other things that I would assume use bidirectional MIDI like the tuner display are working fine.
 
Edit the tempo button and turn off Send on Preset Change and Update on Preset Change. This will allow the Axe-Fx to directly control the tempo button's flashing.
