Effects Gizmo and marshall plexi head channel switching

Hi Folks I am a newbie here and would be grateful if any of yous
could give me a heads up on this problem i am having

i am using a Cornell plexi 45/50 with a metro-amp fx loop installed
with an effects gizmo taking care of my front end and a G system for delay and R verb
in the loop all's well and working happydays
i then noticed in the manual under setup 3 diagram i could use the gizmo
to switch between amps and in my case switch between inputs on my plexi
so i could in effect have second channel added for a solo boost if you understand
i followed instructions to the T and have it working
but it is like my overall volume is down in ether or both channels in the amp
when i plug guitar directly into a channel presto my volume is back
is there something i am missing here?
i understand that maybe splitting the signal in the gizmo may be responsible :?:
but has any body got a solution for this ?
will i have to buy the Y-Not A/B/Y switcher?

anyways i would like to thank all who help in advance
i just got my rig flight cased and am rewiring things up
with new cable and would love to get this sorted before i
star sniping my george ls
Cheers

Chances are, the problem results from plugging into two inputs at the same time. Not all amps are designed to allow this, especially amps with high and low inputs. Try this: plug your guitar directly into your louder "solo" input. Then plug a guitar cable into the lower volume input. Does the volume change? If so, it's the amp and it can't be fixed without rewiring the amp's inputs.

hi and
thanks so much for answering my post

i tryd what you asked there
and ther was no volume drop when i plug d guitar in directly
and plug d other cable into normal channel ?
its clear and full and loud

Hmm.... Are you using the buffer on the Effect Gizmo? That would probably help in preserving the signal level.

hi Again
i have been wiring up some new cables as we
have been posting here to and fro
and i have taken out all the cables and put in
the new ones and found the culprit bad bad BAD cable
its all working as it should be now
sorry for the trouble i only use quality cables
so i got caught off guard
but they have had a lot of handling
dismantling my old rig
and setting up this one so one of the small jumper cables
wasn't long enough and snagged a bit putting it in
so happy days my friend thanks for answering
my post so prompt i really appreciate that
this product is a God Send an answer to my
Tone needs in so many ways thanks again

Sorry one last thing would there be any advantage tone wise to buy the Y-Not A/B/Y switcher?
to do this job of switching channels or is the effects gizmo equal to it as regards tone quality ?
cheers

The Y-Not has some useful extra features, but if you're just switching channels on one amp, they may well not benefit you. The isolation transformer is useful for preventing ground loops between two amps, while the phase reverse switch is used when running two amps or channels at the same time, if they partially cancel each other out rather than adding to each other (usually due to an additional tube or gain stage on one of the channels - phase is flipped every time a signal goes through a tube). If you're only running one channel or the other, this isn't needed. And you've already got the buffer in the Effect Gizmo. So no, in your case, it's probably not going to make much, if any, difference.

Once again thanks for the prompt reply
that clears that up for me perfectly
i was debating whether to purchase
the Y Not A/B Switch or the Mini Line Mixer first
so now i can go for the Mini Line Mixer its
been a pleasure getting prompt reply's
to my questions and not been left hanging
like the way some other company's moderate there fourms
so keep up the good work it does make a difference
i wouldn't hesitate to recommend your products
