Length of cable

Hey guys
Is it just me, or is 10' really long for a cable? I shortened my RG-16 to Peavey JSX / XXX cables (to 18" and 24") but it was a bit of a pain as I hate soldering DIN connections at the best of times. Previously I had to have them tied up inside my rack, but that just looked ugly and was unnecessary weight (ok, they're not heavy, but it could be the straw that breaks the camel's back). Would it be possible as a future option to maybe do shorter (say, 3 foot) cables?

Just me being picky really... another query would be about the cable used - it's grey and doesn't feel very rugged. Is there nothing suitable that's black and rubbery like a standard audio type cable?

Just thoughts :)

Yes, we're working on streamlining our manufacturing, so that different lengths will not be as big of a deal. You can always custom order shorter cables through your dealer (or from us) in the meantime!

Oh, and regarding the cable material itself, It'll never be as flexible as an audio cable - these cables have a lot more copper in them - 6 or 8 conductors plus a shield. That makes them less flexible. These are more like a CAT5 cable than an audio cable.

I'm not thrilled about the gray color either, but so far I can't find anyone who will make it in black in reasonable quantities - I keep looking, though!

The good news is that the cable is actually pretty sturdy stuff. Reports of cable failure are very, very rare.

Have you tried calling Monoprice Ron? I'm sure they could manufacture ones that would even have the mesh netting on them..
