Anyone using MMGT for triggering samples / pads on hardware device? Not laptop

I've got a Toraiz SP16 and I'd like to set up a couple buttons on the GT to trigger different pads, synth samples, tracks on the SP16, however it doesn't to be that doable. Would love some input on other hardware devices (don't want to deal w/ a laptop) that could do it.

Hi, yes I use a Roland SP-404SX for this. Samples can be triggered with mini note messages. You can do one-shot samples or loops. There's also a newer version of the sp404 but that one uses a different midi channel for every bank of samples.

So with the older 404sx, you have it set to one channel and the various samples are CC notes?

It’s actually two channels, one for the first half of the banks and then another channel for the second half. The pads are triggered with midi note messages.

A correction to my previous post is in order. I just looked up the midi implementation of the new mk2 version. It now has a second midi mode in which it works similar to the old one. So only 2 channels required. I guess they updated the firmware. That solves my main issue with it. I might upgrade to the new one now because sample management is a bit cumbersome with the old one. The new version has a usb editor vs using SD cards.
