Well finally got my rig finished, all works perfectly now
rig2.JPG

thats actually very easy

just created a table in MS word and set the background colour to black and used white text. I just altered the cells to fixed height and width to get them to fit as near perfectly as I could get then printed out onto glossy vinyl labels then cut them out with a craft knife

Wow! That looks great! Well done. That's quite a rig.

I like the stickers, too - really a great idea.

I will post the blank templates for anyone who wishes to use them I had to create 2 slightly different templates for the RG16 and the effect gizmo as the spacing between the buttons is different

Here is the final wiring diagram for the rig

and the MS word label template for anyone who wishes to alter it for their own set-up

Well thought it was about time I posted some updated pics of my rig as it has changed quite a lot in the last 12 months
In January I finished buiding the Nitrotube pre-amp, a modified Soldano Clone, to ensble this to be added to the rack meant moving the analogue effects to a second flight case. At the same time I made some minor wiring mods and simplified the signsl routing slightly removing some superfluous features I didn't really need or use.
In June I routed the DR3 Drum machine through the splitter mixer so I could attenuate the output signal to suit the poweramp.
In september I aquired and SansAmp PSA1 ( always wanted one and the price was right) the easiest way to incorporate this into my set-up was to move the Marshall poweramp from the main rack into the second flight case with the analogue effects.
so Here is the main rack now
attachment.php

the second rack cabs and combo are currently in the practice hall so no pics at present, not really planning any major changes to it now and I have the signal routing virtually finalized now apart from one possible alteration.
I do need to re-make the rack interface as it now has more external connections than it did previously hopefully I will get his done oer christmas.
THe Current wiring layout is attached along with some modifications I am planning

I have one question for Ron when he has time to cast his expert eye over my proposed modifications contined in the proposed wiring diagram.
The wiring is identical except I am looking to be able to switch the feed to the external pre-amps from the Boss GT Pro Loop 1 to Boss GT Pro Pre loop as this will allow me to run my external pre-amps in parallel with the GT Pros internal amp sims. The only loops I have left are loops 3&4 in the RG16 and I am running loops 1&2 to switch between 2 channels on an external amp that has seperate feeds for each channel. The return on loop 2 is fitted with a dummy plug to block any transmission of the signal from loop 2 onwards.
Basically the signal routing is output 1-4 of the Effect Gizmo (which is the pre-loop from the GT Pro) feeds the buffer in on the RG16 (as I need to split the signal at this point and return the signal before the pre-amps back to the GT Pro via the tuner out. The buffer out of the RG 16 runs to the return of loop 3 and loop 1 from the GT Pro feeds the return of loop 4
so my question is Have I got the switching and and signal routing correct on loops 3&4 ie will this allow me to select between feeding the pre-amps with the signal from the GT Pro Pre-loop or the signal from the GT Pro Loop 1. I know the rest of the signal chain is OK and the pre-amps will return the signal back to the GT Pro via loop 1, loop 2 or both.

The loop 3 / loop 4 arrangement will definitely allow you to route one of the two GT-Pro signals into the preamp. The only potential problem I see is that the RG-16's returns are not grounded (by design). This might be fine, and it might even help with ground loops (which was the intention of not grounding the returns). But, if you find that turning on loop 3 or 4 produces a lot of buzz, you might need to ground those jacks, or provide an external ground.

Give it a try and see (or hear)!

thanks Ron

Will probably give it a try at the weekend when I get the rest of my gear back home.

Adding and extra ground isn't a big issue if its needed but will try without first was sort of expecting some issues anyway, seem to remember the buffer giving me problems with the preamps so may need to just use an insert cable from the Effect giszo out tto get the two feeds. WIll know once I try it

THought it was time to post an updated on my rig, as its changed a bit in the last 2 years. I need another 12U rack now (whoops)
