Incoming Fractal VP-4. How About A Full Support Preset?

Just the FX in this one. Top quality Fractal effects. Four blocks at a time. No amp models, but plenty of drives. Stereo analog and digital (S/PDIF and USB C) I/O. MIDI I/O too. Use it as a pedal or an audio interface (2 X 2). 2 pedal inputs.

Looks like basically the same UI as the other Fractal units. So you can get incredibly deep inside the editor. But the on-pedal display, 4 knobs, and 4 foot switches seems to make it easy to create basic presets, scenes, etc.

Integration with any gear. I want to use it with my Kemper and big Tonex, in 4CM with my tube amps, and inside my DAWs. Live or studio use looks amazing. I could even imagine an FM3 or FM9 owner adding this. It would be like an amazing upgrade to an FM3 or an FM9.

See page 55 of the VP-4 owner's manual. It has the MIDI implementation chart. It is on the Fractal site now.

Note that the owner's manual shows owners of the other Fractal modeling units how to control the VP-4 and vice versa. That may provide you with some ideas as to how to do so with a MMGT.

Word from Fractal is that it's going to be a month before the full third party MIDI spec will be available. This is what's needed to provide Axe-Fx III level support. You can just set it up as a Generic device now using the information they've published and you can get basic support today.

Thanks. I just received my VP-4. Hoping to see it supported on your next build.

If I like it as much as I anticipate, I might buy an FM3 as well. The folks at Fractal have integrated the audio (via S/PDIF out on FM3 to S/PDIF in on VP4) and MIDI so scene switching can be done simultaneously. In essence, the VP4 adds a whole lot of processing power to the FM3. Plus with combined analog I/O I think I'll be able to place blocks both in front of and in the loop of my analog amps.
