Introducing the MultiBox

Ok, check the jumpers inside the Multibox, make sure they're set to the defaults that are shown in the quick start sheet.

Another thing to try is to connect the Multibox to just one Strymon pedal (both the MIDI input and output) and see if you can get it to work.

Do you have any MIDI app that would list the connected devices? Examples are MIDI-OX on Windows and MIDI Monitor on Mac. Most (or all?) DAW software can display connected MIDI devices as well. It would be good to know if the computer is seeing the PBC at all.

Hey I have a Multibox interacting with my PBC/6X and some other pedals. I've had a consistent hum noise in my clean signal path and after an hour of narrowing it down - I discovered that once I unplug the power from my Multibox the buzz goes away. Everything is crystal clear again but obviously I can't talk to my MIDI devices anymore. Any ideas as to what might be happening? It's being powered from an isolated port on my Walrus Audio Canvas Power 15. Thank you!

Which mode(s) are the TRS MIDI ports set to, and what pedals are they connected to? Not all TRS MIDI pedals have a properly isolated MIDI input.

I recommend unplugging each connector from the Multibox, one at a time, to see where the ground loop is coming from. Start with the TRS connectors. Once you've found it, you could try replacing that cable with one that has the ground disconnected on one side.

Wow you were correct! Thank you for the swift reply. The TRS cable going to my Jackson Audio Bloom was the MAIN culprit. I tried disconnecting the ground on one end with no luck. So I deleted the cable altogether - don't need it. I've heard this was an issue before with the Bloom. Also I had a MIDI extension cable going to my Line 6 HX One that was causing some buzz as well. Replaced that with a long test MIDI cable and it's crystal clear again. I appreciate your help! RJM is the best!

Glad to hear it! I hope that more companies adopt the official MIDI TRS spec - it's fully isolated and shouldn't have that problem. The main issue is that the official TRS MIDI spec came out many years after companies had started coming up with their own "standards". That's why TRS MIDI is kind of a mess.

Hey, did you guys figure it out ? I have the exact same problem, I got the multi box too and I have been trying to get it to work for the past 3 months so far I can only access the Stryfecta Nixie editor when I midi daisy chain all the pedals.

Can you elaborate some more on how you have everything connected? A daisy chain connection with the last pedal connected back to the Multibox, or PBC MIDI Input is needed.

PBC10 Midi Out > Multibox #1

Multibox #2
> Strymon Pedals > Multibox #4

Multibox #3
> tonex > hx one >

Midi Forward is enable on the PBC 10
I can control Strymon pedals with PC messages from my PBC 10
Themultibox is set up to default see below:

Everything works but it can not connect to nixie editor.
