RG 16 tuner mute issue

Hi guys, I have a problem that I hope you might be able to help me with. I have a Fender rt 1000 rack tuner, when hooked up to the rg 16 in the tuner out it works fine however the mute doesnt work. When I plug the amp out into the input of the tuner and the output of the tuner into the output of the RG 16 it works and the sound is muted however it doesnt read the notes when it is muted???

The tuner out is not in the main audio path, so the tuner will not be able to mute the signal. If you hook up the tuner in a loop like it was a pedal, it will be able to mute.
