Firmware & editor version 5.1.0 are now available!

FEATURES:
  • New device support:
    • Amplitube Tonex
    • Chase Bliss Mood 2 & Gen Loss 2
    • Flower Sunflower
    • Strymon Brig, Cloudburst and Ultraviolet
  • Added new Bank Size parameter, which allows you to set a fixed bank size. This is the amount of presets the Bank Up and Bank Down advance through the preset list. (This has no effect in Song & Setlist mode.) The default value "Auto" is the old behavior, where bank size is determined by the number of preset buttons on the current page.
BUG FIXES:
  • Corrected the default settings for the Axe-Fx III looper button
  • Improved the way log taper compensation works in expression pedals, expression pedal bar graph also works better when using log compensation
  • Fixed issues in the setup menus relating to the "clear" button
You can also read the full change log if you like.

TO UPDATE FIRMWARE:

PLEASE DON'T DO A MAJOR FIRMWARE UPDATE RIGHT BEFORE YOUR BIG GIG!

- First, back up your settings to a flash drive or computer! If you go back to 4.7 or earlier, your Mastermind will factory reset.
- Download and unzip the firmware file.
- Copy the file to a USB flash drive, and remove any other .rjf files from the flash drive.
- Eject the drive from your computer.
- Power on the Mastermind while holding the 1 and 3 buttons.
- Keep holding until you see "Mastermind Bootloader" appear on the screen.
- Now plug the flash drive into your Mastermind. The update should begin and will take a few minutes to complete.

- Use the editor's Transfer / Update Firmware menu option to update the Mastermind. This works with the PBC/6X and PBC/10s made after March 2019.

Hi Ron,

thanks for the update !
The firmware update on my PBC 6X ran without any problem, but the new editor version can't open on my mac.
It keeps quitting before loading... I'm running on Mac OS Catalina. Is there any incompatibility issue ?
I had to re-instal 5.0.1 firmware.

I don't know of anything that changed that would have altered compatibility, but I don't have a system here running Catalina to test with. I'll see if I can figure out what's going on.

@Vik please try this version when you have a chance: http://rjmmusic.com/downloads/MastermindEditor-5.1.0a.dmg

I set up a Catalina virtual machine and this recompiled version runs for me, where the original one didn't.

Hi Ron,

I just got back home and tried the new Editor 5.1.0a version. It works perfectly now on Mac OS Catalina !
Thank you very much !

Hi there ..

I have an issue with my PBC 10. I updated my Editor and the firmware to 5.1.0, and my MIDI is not working on all my presets. Only my loops work. My midi pedals are BigSky, GFI Synesthesia, and Empress Echosystem. I tried going back to my older version 4.2.1 and still no luck

That's a big jump in versions. I try to keep settings preserved over any upgrade, but I can't test every possible scenario. There's probably something in the settings that needs to be fixed. Post your settings file here or send them to support@rjmmusic.com and I'll have a look.

Question on updates: is it imperative that you do all the firmware updates or is it safe to skip versions? I'm still using 4.9.1. Do I need to do 5.0.0, then 5.0.1, then 5.1.0 or can I just jump straight to 5.1.0?

You can skip releases, especially in the later releases when the structure of the settings data doesn't change much from version to version. A big jump from 2.0 or 3.0 to 5.0 would be more error prone.

Hi Ron. Is it safe to update to Mac OS 14.4?
I haven't tried it yet - there are enough reports of problems in 14.4 that I haven't been inclined to update yet. These are system-wide problems, not specifically problems with our apps. I don't have a spare Mac that I could use as a test platform - the Macs I have all get used frequently, and I can't afford to have them down due to a bad OS update. Hopefully Apple will get this sorted out soon!

Make sure the drive is formatted as FAT32. The easiest way to do this is to format it from the System Functions menu on the PBC itself. Also, for your best chance of it working, it should be 32GB or less and USB2.0.

I didn’t know there was any problems with 14.4. I’ll hold off. Thanks always Ron.
