Debugerr "Unable to Contact Board 4" Can't PC, GetPrst names

Hi,

I have lost the ability to control presets after setting up AxeFX II device in MMGT16.
Also I am unable to Get Preset Names.
I went into debug and noticed an error "Unable to contact board 4".

Is this related to the problem or a board that is for GT22?

Thanks,
Dave

I'm not sure what you mean by "lost the ability to control presets"? What happens when you select a preset button?

The board 4 message is to be expected - GT/16s don't have a board 4, only 22s do.

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me.
The chain of events went like this:
1. I programmed the MMGT16. Everything was working. I did multiple Get Preset Name sessions...no hiccups.
After a few days....
2. I went to do a Get Preset Names, because I changed some presets on the Axefx2.
3. When I pressed start, the progress bar did nothing and MMGT16 went into a lock state.
4. Recycled power on MMGT16/Axefx2. Pressed some preset switches on MMGT16, but presets didn't change on axefx2.
Tried Get Preset names. Same event lock state.
5. I set MMGT16 back to factory default and reloaded firmware.
6. Then setup a fresh axefx2 device.
7. Went to get preset names...same lock state.
On the third try of step 5,6,7, I power cycled the axefx2 during the preset read session. Communication and preset reading started functioning.

The MMGT16 and axefx2 seem to be working together fine now.
However, while switching patches yesterday, all the displays (except) the main display went blank.
I power cycled the MMGT16 and everything came back.
I don't know why that happened...hope it doesn't happen during a gig..yikes.

Thanks for all of your quick replies...I really love the unit.

If the displays get dark, it's likely a power problem. Are you using the power supply that was shipped with the GT, or something else?

Re: Debugerr "Unable to Contact Board 4" Can't PC, GetPrst n

I am using the power supply that came with the unit.
All power is goes through a Furman.
I did notice the source voltage getting low.
It was at 115V. Not sure if the MMGT is sensitive at those low levels.

So if the main display 'stays lighted' and the smaller displays go off (blank), it is a power problem?
Just want to make sure.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi, just a thought... Check your MIDI Cable...

Re: Debugerr "Unable to Contact Board 4" Can't PC, GetPrst n

The specific symptom I see when power starts to get too low is that the button displays start to black out or distort. So far, every time I've seen it happen, it's ended up being a power issue.

Is the GT phantom powered? And if so, are you using a very long MIDI cable?

I currently have it directly powered using the power supply into a power strip.
Thank you for the tip on the power drop. I'll keep an eye out.
