EFX Gizmo and Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro

Hi Ron and RJM Forum, based on the need to rack my pedal board, I just picked up the RJM EFX Gizmo (purchased from Bryan over at Rig-Quest). I also am using a VL GCP as the midi controller. BTW, YouTube set up video is wonderful, and takes all the mystery (and frustration) out of the set up process.

I purchased the EFX Gizmo due to its pedal capacity (12 loops vs 8 in the RG16). My preference is to run the entire system by instant access with no presets. (I noted that "You enable GCX mode by holding the Loop 1 button on powerup, turning on Loop 9 and Loop 10, then pressing the Write button. This will enable GCX compatibility for all 12 loops.")

Is there an easy way of programming the GCP to access loops 9-12 in IA mode? I assume that this will require a bank change as the GCP only offers 8 IA switches at a time.

Or another possibility would be to use the preset buttons and have them set up to access loops 9-12 one at a time? (e.g. preset 1 - loop 9, preset 2 - loop 10, etc.)

thanks!
mike.

Yes, you have only 8 IA buttons to work with, so you have to be creative. If you only need one of loops 9 through 12 on at once, your idea of using the preset buttons would work fine. (Just turn off GCX mode for loops 9-12).

The only other option I can see is to get a larger controller like the All Access or Liquid Foot.

Hi,
I'm searching how to turn on the 9 to 12 loops of an efx gizmo in preset mode.
I have a Ground Control Pro and a EFX Gizmo and I want a preset with loops 1, 2, 9 and 12...
I'm french and my english level is pretty low... so I can't find the answer in the user manual...

Thank you,
Julien

You can do it two ways:

1). Turn on both GCX1 and GCX2 on the Ground Control Pro. You can program each preset on the Ground Control Pro - GCX1 corresponds to Effect Gizmo loops 1 through 8, GCX2 (loops 1 through 4) corresponds to Effect Gizmo loops 9 through 12.

2). Turn off GCX mode for loops 9-12 on the Effect Gizmo:
- Remove power from the Effect Gizmo
- While applying power, hold the Loop 1 button. Keep holding the button until the lights flash.
- Release the Loop 1 button
- The Loop 10 light should now be on (it indicates that Loops 9-12 are in GCX mode). Press the Loop 10 button to turn off its light. This sets loops 9-12 to normal preset mode.
- Press the Write button
Now, loops 1-8 will still act like GCX1, but loops 9-12 will operate in normal preset mode (that is, they work as described in the manual).
