External midi controller and IA mode

Havent taken the plunge yet but checking out controllers. One thing I would like to do is have more switches. Can you use an external midi controller to change presets/banks and have the PBC stay in IA mode?
 
Yes, if you set MIDI Receive Channel to something other than None, you can have another controller send PC messages to the PBC on that channel and make it change presets.
 
Thanks for the reply, will the PBC stay in IA mode/ Loop mode or return to a preset layout? My goal is to keep access to the loop switches at all times if possible. Thanks again for the help. Coming from the axe fx world back to a traditional board setup.
 
It's up to you and how you program it. But, by default, it will not switch button pages when you change presets.
