External switch glitch

I bought an external 2 button switch to use with the PBC and I connect it using a TRS cable. It will sometimes work and sometimes not. If it's not working, I rotate the TRS plug going into the PBC and it'll work again. Do you think this is an issue with the cable? I'm hoping that's the case. I just want to make sure before I spend $20 on another cable.

If it's a switch known to work with the PBC I would think the first suspect should be the cable. Try switching the cable ends around and see if now you need to rotate the cable going into the switch to fix the problem (meaning that particular cable end is faulty in some way).
