External Switch Question

I'm about the use a momentary, normally open, 2 button external switch with the LT, but I'm not sure which button goes with which external switch control within the LT.

Is this correct?:

External Switch 1 = Tip
External Switch 2 = Ring

Yes that's correct.

I built my own external switch following the RJM schematic - I excluded the LEDs but am considering adding them. Would the LEDs still need pull-down resistors? Or is that covered by the LT?

The resistors are in the LT, just put the LEDs in as recommended in the schematic and it'll be fine.
