Extra external switches?

I was watching the Rig Rundown video of A Perfect Circle, and noticed that Billy Howerdel is using more than 4 external switches with his GT22. On the right there are 4 individual switches, and on the left he has two exp pedals with toe switches. So two pedals and 6 switches.

This got me wondering how this was set up. Is it possible to use an expression pedal input for an extra switch?

I'm not sure what they're doing - there's definitely no way to have more than four. I wonder if they're not using the switches on the expression pedals?

They are, he shows it in the video. Perhaps the extra switches control something in the rack unrelated to the mastermind.
