Fender Switchboard Tap Tempo Control

I noticed that the Switchboard does not have a midi Clock to control tap tempo. That is a bummer. But I wonder if I could control the tempo of a delay like a boss DD 200 or 500 using the footswitch button and running a cable to the Delays control/expression Jack, Has anyone tried that?
 
I haven't specfically tried it, but I would imagine that it'd work. You'll probably have to play with the footswitch options. Either the Tip or Momentary options would probably be the right one.
