FRACTAL VP4

For now, you'll need to use a Generic device setting in the Devices tab - a Fractal setting will not work. Then, make sure that the MIDI channel set in Devices matches the MIDI channel set in the VP4's MIDI menu. Also, if there's any setting for MIDI PC Receive or something like, make sure that it's enabled.
 
Yes. That’s how it is currently. I have 3 of your boards. Been using 15-18years now. I’m familiar with the basics. I did the generic setting. It’s just not even flashing like nothing at all says it’s connected. Is it because of the VP four has a different midi jack it has that jack instead of the standard I had to get an adapter that’s the only thing and all my other boards.
 
What kind of adapter are you using, and how is it connected? Getting the connection right is key, and there are a few different "standards" (and one actual standard) for TRS MIDI.
 
It looks like that cable is a TRS MIDI type B. I don't know this for sure, but I suspect that the VP4 uses TRS MIDI type A. Type A was declared as the official standard a while back, so I would imagine that any new device would use type A. I can't currently get anything to download from the Fractal site, so I can't verify this at the moment.

The same company sells a type A cable on Amazon, it looks the same except that it's blue instead of red.
 
I just received my VP4. It came with a free MIDI adapter cable as part of the current sale. I haven't even unboxed it yet, but when I do, I will try to set it up as a generic device with my MMGT-10.
