I want to control Mastermind LT from an external MIDI device

Is it possible to control Mastermind LT by sending program changes from an external MIDI device?
What will happen to the Mastermind LT settings in that case?

There's a section in the LT manual that addresses this, look for the External MIDI Control section. Incoming program changes are handled the same way as selecting a preset is handled on the LT. It won't affect settings, except that it's loading the presets you've requested.
