    Hello!

    Would it be possible to hook up these four loop input/output loops to four individual guitar fx loops which would individually access a single noise gate rack mount unit? This would be the only piece of gear in my studio setup which would be utilized in the fx loops of every guitar amp. Thanks!!

    Four loops won't be enough, unfortunately. When switching effect loops, you need to switch both the sends and the returns individually. With two loops you could select between 3 effect loop sends, and another 2 loops could switch between the effect loop returns. You'd need 2 more loops to select a 4th amp.

    Thanks for the reply! One thing did you mean “With two loops you could switch between “2” effect loop sends”?? Does that then mean I can only do two fx loops with 4 loops?? Please clear this up and thanks again!

    3 amps can be handled with 4 loops. It would be connected like this:

    Amp #1 send -> In 5
    Amp #2 send -> Return 5
    Amp #3 send -> Return 6
    Out 5 to In 6
    Out 6 to noise gate in
    Noise gate out to In 7
    Send 7 to Amp #2 return
    Send 8 to Amp #3 return
    Shorting plugs in Return 7 and Return 8
    Out 7 to In 8
    Out 8 to Amp #1 return

    Turn off 5, 6, 7 and 8 for amp 1
    Turn on 5 and 7 for amp 2
    Turn on 6 and 8 for amp 3

    Thanks! Are those two shorts on 7&8 Returns meant to prevent feedback loop?

    If you use a loop as a Y splitter like that, it will work like this:

    Loop off: loop input is connected to loop output
    Loop on: loop input is connected to loop output AND loop send

    If you plug a grounded plug into the loop return, it changes the loop to do this:

    Loop off: loop input is connected to loop output
    Loop on: loop input is connected to loop send

    With the shorting plug, it acts as an A/B switch (output A or output B0. Without the plug, it acts as an A/Y switch (output A or both outputs). You need A/B switching to do what you need.
