So I drew up a routing schematic for players who want the option of running two preamps with the possibility of...
1. Preamp 1 in Stereo - Loop 9
2. Preamp 2 in Stereo - Loop 10
3. Preamp 1 Left + Preamp 2 Right - Loop 11
This config does call for some additional gear like an ABY box and a couple of Y cables to split the signal from the preamps.
This config also uses the Full Stereo Effects Gizmo option. It's routed a bit weird with loops 9-12 actually wired in between loops 1-4 and 5-8 to allow for post effects in loops 5-8, but the main point of the diagram is the wiring of loops 9-12 where the preamps are.
The biggest compromise of a system like this is that you're forced to always engage either loop 9, 10, or 11... but without those, you wouldn't really have a preamp, so you'd probably have one of those always on anyway.
If you didn't go with the stereo option, you could do the same thing, really. Loops 1-8 could be routed in sequence, then the preamps would route through loops 9, 10, and 11, and you'd have room for a single stereo effects unit in loop 12.
