It's done! (Or at least ready for beta testing!)

The Mastermind GT Editor version 0.5 is ready for a few brave souls to give it a spin and try it out. I've posted a little video introduction here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0imSGbUz ... e=youtu.be

Anyone who wants to beta test is welcome to give it a try. You don't even need to own a GT to try it out - those thinking about buying a GT might want to look at the editor to get an idea of what the GT can do.

Some important notes:
- You need version 1.1.4 (or later) of the GT firmware installed. This version is available on this forum.
- You need Win7 or Win8 on a PC (Vista MIGHT work, but is untested). On a Mac, Lion or Mountain Lion is required.
- BACK UP YOUR SETTINGS FILES!!!! Both you and I would be very distraught if a software bug wiped out your GT settings. I recommend writing the settings to a flash drive directly from the GT, and keeping that copy safe.
- You can read and write .rjs files with the editor, or can connect directly to the GT, connecting the "USB B" connector on the GT to one of your computer's USB ports.

You can download the editor here:

UPDATE 5/23/2013!
Version 0.6 is now available. The changes are:
- Support for new devices and parameter in MMGT firmware 1.2b1
- Fixes bug that made the editor not want to talk to a GT running 1.1.5
- Fixes some bugs in the device page - editing the device manufacturer and model didn't always give the expected result
- Fixed type registration on the Mac so that double clicking on a settings file will load the file correctly in the editor. PC version is not fixed yet.

UPDATE 6/8/2013!
Version 0.7 is now available. The changes are:
- Added support for firmware 1.2 beta 2 - display dimming, extra button colors, bold fonts and accented characters
- Fixed a bug in displaying grouped buttons on the Preset screen
- Added a separate "Show Page" option on the preset screen. The "Show Page" control lets you set which button page is shown when you select a certain preset. The Page - / Page + buttons under the button display let you view all of the 16 button pages, but do not alter which page is associated with the preset. These functions used to be combined, which turned out to be annoying!
EDIT 6/10/2013: Forgot to mention that you can now insert line breaks into button labels. Use a backslash '\' character to force a line break, and tilde '~' to do a line break with the second line inverted in color (like we do on the Page / IA Store button)

UPDATE 6/18/2013!
And the updates keep coming! Version 0.8 is available.
- Added support for firmware 1.2 beta 3 - (remote mode)
- Added buttons to the device page that allow quick setup of the PCs that are sent to the device with each preset. You can initialize all PCs to "no preset", the device's first preset (0 or 1), or to sequential (preset 1 sends PC 1, preset 2 sends PC 2, etc.)
- You can now use arrow keys to move through preset, song, setlist and other lists and the screen will update the way it's supposed to.
- Fixed errors in drag and drop for presets, songs and buttons that would cause other settings to get messed up
- When moving through the preset list, the virtual GT display does a better job of updating the on-screen preset buttons.
- Fixed the names of external switches
- Fixed PC action display to take PC offset into account.
- Restrict the range of contrast sliders to a more useful range
- Fixed the handling of the filename when double clicking on a settings file (Mac only)

UPDATE 6/22/2013!
Okay, now we're at 0.8.1 - a minor update that adds two more parameters in GT 1.2, plus one bug fix: using the "Set Preset PCs" on the Devices page would not update the information on the Presets page.

UPDATE 7/19/2013!
Version 0.8.5. This one fixes scenes support for the Axe-Fx, adds an "Open Recent" menu item and fixes some bugs in editing global buttons. The PC version now has a proper installer, and you can now open an RJS settings file simply by double clicking on it.

Please post your comments and bug reports here!

I started redoing my GT with the editor and for some reason my first 4 (80-83) CC's on Channel 1 for my Effects gizmo are not responding to preset changes, but eveything after 83 is responding. the buttons change colors on the GT but the loops do not activate. I believe my Effects gizmo is still in default settings (Only Loop 7 is lit during the program mode). Am I missing something here?

Great job Ron!

The interface looks real neat. And the video explained everything pretty good. It's awesome that you can drag and drop in lists and the buttons! :)

Haven't had that long to play around yet but I've got a minor bug to report, not a show stopper fortunately! In the devices list it shows devices that have been deleted. No big problem for me with a grand total of 1 device, but it may be confusing if you have 10 :) See the attached screenshot - I currently only have the axefx2 in slot 1, but 2 and 3 have populated.

Jake: Check two things - on the Devices page, make sure that "Send CCs on preset change" is checked. Also, on each button, double click on the button and make sure "Send on Preset Change" is also checked. If that doesn't help, please send me your settings file and I'll track down the problem.

Glenn: Good catch! I'll look into that one.

Hi Ron -

I'm running the beta app on my MacBook Pro v 10.7.5 - the app looks great.

I just went through and defined/assigned 7 devices and "saved" after each add.
Each device was selected as GENERIC / PC/CC DEVICE - and then the name was changed and MIDI channel changed. Tick boxes were checked.
The resulting .rjs file is on my desktop.
If I quit the app and double click to open the saved file my list of save devices is gone.
The list looks like the default startup with just Rack Gizmo listed as device 1.

When selecting Effect Gizmo for device #1 the button list does not change to reflect 12 loops (it still looks like the RG with 8 loops and 8 functions)

UPDATE - the button action is correct / only the name had to be changed manually

Brian - does the file load if you run the editor, then load your file using the menu? I think the issue may be incorrect handling of double clicking on a settings file.

How can I force the text on button naming - I'm trying to do something like "Dry Mute" on the top line and "center" below it. Right now the editor is forcing "Mute" to the bottom line...

Hi Ron,
I've just spent half an hour doing a basic page 1 setup.
Great interface. Easy to use and understand. Very intuitive. Excellent job!

Brian - The way to move buttons from page to page is to use copy & paste. I may implement other methods later if I can think of something more clever.
- If you move the settings file back out of the app directory, does anything happen to the device list? All of the settings files I open are either on my desktop or on a flash drive and I haven't seen that particular issue.
- I'll need to add a way to insert a line break in a button name. The GT supports it already, but the editor needs to provide a way to insert the character.

Mark - Thanks!

Do you mean on the Preset screen? I does look like I need to update the preset buttons in the virtual representation of the GT when a preset is selected. (Is this what you mean?)

I've set up a page(1) with presets 1-6 & a bunch of IA buttons. How do I set up a page(1) for the 2nd and subsequent Banks - Presets 7-12, 13-18 etc.?

Pages and banks are not automatically related, but each preset can be set to call up a different page. So, if you wanted presets 1-6 to call up page 1, presets 7-12 to call up page 2, etc., then:

- Select preset 7
- Press the "IA Page / Store" button to switch to page 2
- Now press and hold the IA Page / Store button until you see "Stored" on the screen
- Repeat the above steps for presets 8-12

- Press bank up to move to the next bank
- Select preset 13
- Press the "IA Page / Store" button twice to switch to page 3
- Now press and hold the IA Page / Store button until you see "Stored" on the screen
- Repeat the above steps for presets 14 - 19

.... and repeat for each bank

None of the above works.
And I can only use presets 1-6. Any attempt to assign extra presets, defaults to presets 1-6.

I'm sorry, I just realized we're of course talking about the editor here, and not the GT itself . :? I often have to keep track of 10 or more support issues at a time and sometimes get confused (understatement)

At the moment, the preset buttons do not update correctly on the preset editor screen. If you select preset 7 on the left side of the window, the bank will not change to display preset 7. However, any changes you make will still affect preset 7.

Select preset 7, then use the Page - and Page + buttons to select which button page comes up when preset 7 is selected (probably this would be page 2). You can select the same page for presets 8-12, then select a new page for presets 13-18, etc. This will have the end result of having a different button page for each bank of 6 presets.

That last part doesn't work. Pick any page - presets 1-6. The only way to change the preset is to turn the button off and type in the new preset name, but then it's no longer a preset, just an inactive button. If you set it back to being a preset button it is set to preset 1-6.
I've set up 18 presets in the left side of the preset editor screen, but I can only use the first 6.
