I created a sample configuration for a customer that uses Device PC - and + buttons to allow you to select presets on your connected MIDI-capable effects and save your selections to PBC presets. I've attached the file here in case anyone else might find it useful. This allows you to select effect presets without using the editor or the setup menu.

The file is configured for a Timeline, a Mobius, a BigSky and an H9, but it wouldn't be too hard to convert it to work with other pedals.

Setup:
1). Load this file into your PBC. You can load it into the editor software, the send settings to your PBC over the USB connection, or you can copy the file to a flash drive, and load it into the PBC.
2). Make sure that your pedals are set to the following MIDI channels:
Timeline: CH1
Mobius: CH2
Big Sky: CH3
H9: CH4
Consult the pedals' manuals for instructions on how to do this. If you don't have one of those pedals, that's ok, just set the pedals you do have.

To program a preset:
1). Select a preset on the PBC
2). Press the Loops button to go to the Loops page
3). Use the L1-L10 buttons to select which loops are on and which are off for this preset
4). Press the Loops button to return to the main page
5). Press the Function button to go to the Device PC page
6). Now, you can use the buttons to select which effect preset each pedal should load
- Buttons 1 and 2 (the blue buttons) control the Timeline. Pressing 1 moves down one preset, pressing 2 moves up one
- Buttons 3 and 4 (the green buttons) control the Mobius. Pressing 3 moves down one preset, pressing 4 moves up one
- Buttons 5 and Function (the purple buttons) control the Big Sky. Pressing 5 moves down one preset, pressing Function moves up one
- Buttons Switches and Mute (the yellow buttons) control the H9. Pressing Switches moves down one preset, pressing Mute moves up one
7). You can bypass a pedal using the pedal's own internal bypass by holding one of its Device PC buttons for 2 seconds. Both buttons that control the pedal will turn red indicating bypass. Hold again for 2 seconds to reactivate the pedal.
8). When everything is selected correctly, hold the Loops button for 3 seconds. It should say "Stored". Now the PBC has remembered your settings for the current preset
9). Press the Loops button to return to the main page, where you can select a different preset and repeat the process.

RON,
I just loaded this file to create the midi edit page as you directed and IT WIPED THE PBC CLEAN. Gone. ALL GONE.
So i reloaded my settings, and it overwrote the file i loaded from the thumb. Ideas here? Im so glad i had the foresight to back up first.

Thanks,

John

Yes, it's a new settings file. It will replace all of your settings. It's intended to be used as an example to copy from or a starting point.

There is only a limited ability for the PBC to merge settings together. Some things will have to copied manually. The attached file replaces button page 4, which is where most of the work was done. Load this on top of your existing settings and page 4 will change to have the buttons described above.

The things that need to be done manually are:

- On the Devices tab, set up device 1 to be Timeline, device 2 to Mobius, device 3 to Big Sky and device 4 to H9. Set the MIDI channels appropriately for each device.

- On button page 1, double click the bottom right (Function) button. Copy the settings from the attached screenshot.

- Finally, on the Globals tab, set Max Page to 4 (if it's not 4 or higher already)

Resurrecting this thread from the dead as I'm learning how to program my 6x.

I was able to implement the PC up/down and the bypass functions for the Timeline. I love that I can save the Timeline in bypass for a preset if needed.

However, I'd like to do the same programming for both a Ventris and an H90. I run into problems with the hold function to bypass/engage the preset for both a Ventris and H90. Even though I save the current the current PBC preset with the Ventris off, the Ventris will be engaged when I recall the PBC preset. Same for the H90.

Even further, I'd like to use the PC+ hold to add the B engine on the Ventris. Same for the PC+ on the H90 (add the B preset). Both of these would keep the PC- as bypass/re engage, ideally.

Last, I've tried multiple ways to have an IA button page on all of my preset pages to have access to H90 presets and be able to recall and bypass H90 on the fly. The main issue I'm running into is that I can't bypass the PC on second press. Do I need to have a separate button to bypass/engage the pedal?

Here's my settings file.

I appreciate the help!

Do the hold-to-bypass functions work manually? And, are they working correctly, or are they inverted? (pedal off when the button says it's on and vice-versa)

What happens when you try to set up a page to select H90 presets? After a quick search, I couldn't find that kind of page in your settings.

Yes, they do work and actually they are inverted as you're describing them!

Sorry, I deleted the H90 page because it was doing weird things when I saved to a preset. (The preset button would recall the settings but would take me to the H90 page).

I have so many questions but not sure where to voice them. My next piece of homework is going through the Youtube Mastering the Mastermind series.

Ok, you can un-invert the buttons simply by swapping the values. If the bypass actions are set to off:0 on:127, switch them to be off:127 on:0.

I think I have most of the issues figured out, except for the following:

Midi control of the H90 in page 3 and 4:

1. I can save a PC command to a preset. It saves normally and is recalled when I switch back from a different preset. However, when I press and hold to bypass the H90 the change is not saved (like on the Timeline.)

2. I set up hold functions to add engine B of the H90. This actually does not save to the preset altogether.

Both of the issues above also apply to the Ventris.

Out of curiosity, I figured out I have to have save on preset change and update on preset change turned off for IA store buttons in Midi pages. However, these checkboxes are both turned on in the loops page from factory. What's the difference? I had to turn them off for my IA store midi pages because the preset button was taking me directly to the midi page after a press.

I've attached my settings file for reference.

Thanks!

All your questions relate to the Send on Preset Change and Update on Preset Change settings. Have a look at this video, it explains all of the IA options, including those two:

IA Button Options

Regarding the H90, do you have the CC numbers set up on the H90 itself? The H90 doesn't have its CC numbers set up by default like most pedals do. They need to be set manually on the H90 so it matches the CC sent by the GT. Make sure to set the "Active" CC on the H90, not the "Bypass" CC.
